Unfortunately, we live in a digital age that scammers steal images and post fake ads in thousand of free websites in all over the world. Animal lovers are targeted from these crooks. Fradulent ads are on all kinds of animals: parrots, birds, cats, dogs ... even horses... Please scan the Tittles below for info to protect yourself.
Most of these scammers are from Africa: Cameroon, Nigeria....
They use stolen credit cards, stolen nice animal pictures...There are suspects of scammers living in the U.S, place fake ads in newspaper but money goes back to oversea to avoid being caught
Here are some examples
Example 1
Parrot scammers have their ads on reputational U.S newspapers with an email attached. The costs of a parrot are extremely cheap or even FREE.
when people respond to the ad, a scammer says he/she just left to Nigeria or many countries in Africa for God work ( missionary work) or what any emotional reasons that they fake. The scammer says the bird currently with him/her and needs to ship back to the U.S ( By the way, it is illegal to ship any parrots to the U.S , Europe and most parts of the world) with a fee. If you pay the shipping fees, then the scammers create many more reasons for you to send them more money.
When I reponded to a Palmbeachpost.com ad, that how I found out
I googled their emails and found out that scammers posted the same ads on reputable newspapers all over the U.S. They steal people identity and in one of the ad, the website pointed out a detected location is from a small town outside of Orlando, Florida.
It looks like U.S scammers or scammers associated with abroad scammers steal our identity and use those credit cards to commit more frauds.
